I didn't even like my literature classes in college, but I thoroughly loved this book. It is a scholarly, yet non-christian perspective on the literary features of the Bible and how the Bible's impact has shaped the way all of mankind thinks of myth and symbolism. I would argue that you don't really know the Bible until you know how the Bible expresses truth through myth and symbol. This book teaches you that extremely well.
